Living Out Loud November/December 2011

I think the September/October issue is just outstanding–I especially appreciated the coverage of the local college art galleries and collections and the inclusion of the information about the current Diane Johnson exhibition at Liberty. I also felt the article on LU’s 40th anniversary was excellent.

I enjoyed the nice article about Liberty University by Donna Dunn. … I’m glad you included a picture of Pierre [Guillermin]. As many people know, he was the co-founder and first president of Liberty, but I’m curious as to why his name wasn’t mentioned in the article or even a caption under the photo. Was it there and I missed it or was there some reason he was left out of the article?

Lynchburg Living Responds

Dr. Guillermin was not intentionally left out of the article, and you’re right-we should have listed his name in our photo caption. Due to limited space, Donna included as many interviews as she could in the time allotted to her to cover the story. We feel her article, which uses quotes from Dr. Elmer Towns, Paula Oldham Johnson, Steve Peterson and Dr. Jerry Falwell, Jr., is an accurate and interesting depiction of the past, present and future of Liberty University.
