From Starfish to Local Star

I just saw the article on the Heritage H.S. children’s book project “Sandy the Starfish” in the new Lynchburg Living magazine and you did a spectacular job! The kids will be so thrilled to see their hard work recognized in this way! Thanks so much for the publicity! Heritage H.S. is a really wonderful learning community and this book is just the latest evidence of the ability of our students to succeed regardless of the assignment. I so appreciate the sensitive and warm tone to the article. The layout is lovely and the generosity of your magazine to give us this many pages is just amazing. Thanks again!

Birds, the Overlooked Pet?

“Even the cover of the July/August edition of Lynchburg Living claims the issue is all about pets but the only pets I see referenced are dogs, cats and horses (that is, if you consider a horse a pet).” -reporter Carrie Sidener, in reference to birds often being overlooked as pets in the August 8 edition of the Lynchburg News & Advance

Carrie, you have a point–we did only reference dogs, cats and horses specifically in our last issue (that is, unless you count “Sandy the Starfish” as a pet!). Our purpose in producing the “All About Animals” issue was to celebrate and draw awareness to the fact that the Lynchburg area is a very pet-friendly place to live. We know Carrie was just giving us a hard time, but we did not intend to overlook birds or any other kind of pet. We at Lynchburg Living love animals of all kind–perhaps a little too much. Those on our staff have had dogs, cats, birds, rabbits, snakes, chinchillas, hamsters, chickens, guinea pigs and fish as pets, just to name a few. Our love for animals is a bit over-the-top, and we believe the same can be said of our readers–bird owners included!
