ADOPTING HOPE

I just wanted to write and tell you how pleased I was to read “Adopting Hope” in your magazine. We are in the process of adopting a baby girl from South Korea, and have been waiting for quite awhile to bring her home. Your stories, and the families in them, made me smile, and did indeed give me hope. We have two biological little boys, who are just as excited as we are for our miracle from South Korea. Thank you for shining light onto adoption. There are 147 million orphans worldwide, all of them beautiful, all of them in need of a loving family. I hope every November, we can hear stories about the children that found their forever families, and the families that were blessed by them.

CHARLEY’S FEEDS BACK

Thank you for the tremendous job you did in reporting the history of Charley’s. It really meant a lot to read the article in the Lynchburg Living magazine. You did a great job writing the story and the pictures were wonderful. People we’ve known for 30 years are finding out information about us that they never knew. We’ve had an enormous response to the article. We can’t thank you enough!

HOLIDAY ISSUE RESPONSE

I just got my copy of the new Lynchburg Living, and I want to say many thanks for the wonderful space and article you did this year for the Wreaths Across America ceremony. It was really lovely, and I’m hopeful that many people will come to the ceremony this year, because of the publicity in the Lynchburg Living. Thank you very much for your support, and the article in the magazine. It’s a wonderful issue, and I plan on making those cookies, myself.

Just wanted to say that I just love your magazine and look forward to each and every issue. Today, however, as I was sitting in a Dentist Office awaiting an appointment, I nervously and quickly glanced through the magazine. It was uplifting and so exciting, but on the other hand, I feel sad too. I am and have always been a decorator and usually go all out during the Christmas and New Year’s holidays. But there are times, and this year is one for me, when I feel sadder than usual.

In 2003, I lost my sister, Kay Cash, to Pancreatic Cancer. She was 47 years old, a Psychiatric Nurse at Virginia Baptist and an outstanding person in our community. Kay so loved the Christmas Holidays and made it so special for her family and friends. It has been so sad each holiday not having her with us physically. We have continued to try and carry out Christmas, but it is so difficult without her. I know there are so many people who feel just as deeply as we do.

It would be wonderful, at some point, for your magazine to focus on ways to enjoy Christmas, besides just the glamorous decor, especially for ones like us who have lost loved ones and find the holidays so sad. Where to place each ornament in a room or to place Christmas candy on a side table is not important.

Please do not get me wrong, I so love your magazine–just today upon looking through, I was for some reason so disappointed. I know there are so many others in our town who feel as I do.

FROM OUR FACEBOOK FANS

Deanne Johnson Hamlette I just read the November/December issue of Lynchburg Living and want to applaud you for highlighting the beauty of adoption in “Adopting Hope.” Lynchburg has many adoptive families and birth families with unique stories but they are all united by an incredible love. Thanks for recognizing National Adoption Month in this way!
