NATURAL GRATITUDE
I just wanted to say thank you for the lovely pictures and article on our company that were included in the “Organic Beauty” piece for the Jan/Feb issue. The writing, information and photography were superb, and I truly appreciate your efforts to get the word out concerning organic beauty products. Keep up the good work!

DAZZLING STORY
I am warmed by the very nice story of The Dazzlers by Donna Dunn. I hope many of our wonderful classmates and friends (and talent scouts…?) find pleasant memories from this article. Thank you for sharing this.

AN UPDATE FROM BILL VARNER
In the March/April issue, we featured Bill Varner’s journey leading up to a life-saving liver transplant, which was performed on February 22. Since then, Bill and his donor, Alison Baker, have made remarkable strides. Here is an update, as of April 20, in his own words:
As I’m writing this, it has been about 7 weeks since my liver transplant. I’m thrilled to be able to report that Alison and I are both doing very well, recovering at a rate that has surprised us as much as it seems to have surprised the transplant team at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond. Although we have each had our share of aches and pains along the way, this experience has given me the gift of a life free of debilitating symptoms, along with a boundless level of energy that’s allowing me to rewrite my future. Catherine and I think about Alison’s extraordinary act of heroism every day and will always be deeply grateful for her bravery and generosity.
We also continue to be at a loss for words to adequately communicate the appreciation we feel for the outpouring of love and support that has come to us throughout this journey from friends, families, co-workers, and new relationships that are being created each day. Our lives have been impacted in ways that go far beyond the transplant, opening our eyes and hearts to the capacity that individuals and communities have to care for one another.
The Varner and Baker families request that everyone who has been touched by our story be mindful of the 107,000 Americans who today are waiting for a donor to transform their lives. The shortage of available organs is a quiet crisis that we should not tolerate. Please give the gift of life and be an organ donor.
